Farewell, blogland!

Dear family, friends, and blogfriends-

Thanks for following us on our journey this year. Adventure 2009 was an unforgettable time in our lives and we loved sharing our stories and photos with you.

Now that 2009 is over, we'll be getting back to work, but probably still traveling. There's no home base for us yet. Taylor will pick back up where he left off with his business, but this time with renewed vigor and fresh inspiration. I will continue praying about my own career direction with interior design and either begin my own decor consulting business or continue pursuing my interior design license. The Scamp is currently residing in an RV storage and will be used for camping trips as well as saved for posterity- we couldn't bear to sell it, as it is almost like a child to us.

Thanks again to everyone for all your support.

Love,
The Wanderlusters

One last day

So tomorrow is out last day skiing in 2009. Tuesday early morning we're hitting the road and heading home for Christmas.

We've spent the weekend with my aunt, uncle, and three cousins, which is how we ended the year last year (minus my parents and brother this year).

While taylor cant get enough snow boarding, I have so many mixed feelings about skiing. I enjoyed learning. I had many kind people volunteer to teach me and lots of slopes to practice on (12 total I think?). But my success (or lack of) depends completely on my state of mind. If I'm nervous, anxious, or frustrated, I'm better off sitting it out and collecting my thoughts.... Otherwise, I tense up and fall... A lot. But if I'm in no hurry and can leisurely enjoy myself, I'm much more natural, comfortable, and happy. Poor Taylor- he didn't know he was getting such a moody ski partner, huh?

Anyway, it's been fantastic skiing with my cousins, aunt, and uncle. They are fun to be with.

Taylor and I are ready to come home yet nostalgic about closing out this last season of 2009. This year has been tough, believe it or not, but we wouldn't trade the experience for anything.

Dear Santa

Dear Santa,
I know we're really close to Christmas, but I was thinking that you might share this list with the Birthday Fairy (yes, there's a birthday fairy)... since my birthday is 2 weeks after Christmas. And I am turning... well, old. So here, are some suggestions... no pressure. Just thought you might be interested.

xoxo,
S

Water in my boots

It snowed a ton last night! We woke up to see more snow coming down. Taylor was so excited. We threw on our ski clothes, grabbed our boots and helmets and jumped in the car. About halfway to the slopes, I begin putting on my ski boots only to discover that the left one is SOAKING wet. And I do mean soaking.

Me: my boot is WET!
Tay: what? No, it's probably just cold
Me: no! It's wet!
I touch the boot lining and hold out my dripping wet hand for proof.

Tay and I are severely annoyed. We come to the conclusion that the camelback must have leaked into one boot.

See exhibit A:

See the camelback spout? I'd wager that it leaked just like this into my boot.

(for those of you who are thinking, "what the heck is a camelback?" I'll tell you. A camelback is a totally weird backpack that has a pouch attached to a plastic straw leading out of the bag. You fill the pouch with water, so that while you're skiing all day and get thirsty, you just pull the straw/spouty thingy into your mouth and drink. Eeew. I think it's weird, but Taylor likes it.)

So Taylor drives me back to the apartment and proceeds to fill the boot with towels, soaking up most of the water.

Then, he pulls out this baby:

Yup. He blow dried the inside of my boot for a good 20 minutes while I sulked at my wet boot misfortune. When it was dry, T presented me with my boot with my tennis shoe insoles inside- perfection!

What a good man.

It's that time again....

Laundromat time. At five bucks a load (for washing only, drying is the same), you can bet we try to keep our clothes as clean as possible so as to avoid washing. It's been 3 weeks. It's time.

Waiting.....

Oh and here's a cool house across the street. I like the outdoor furniture and the houses cute teal color. :)
